Living in Interesting Times

“The irony of the information age is that it has given new respectability to the uninformed opinion” – John Lawton

We live in the information age with almost unlimited access to facts and opinions from around the world.  It’s a great time to be alive, but it increasingly difficult to separate the truth from the noise. It’s understandable that a client might ask about “the seven year cycle”, mystic truths like “The Federal Reserve League” or strange correlations between the butter production in Bangladesh and the DOW.  They are all based in fact, but colored by opinion and entertainment.

Information has overloaded investors.  If we have offended your sacred cause or belief, we apologize.  We only wish to make the point that information today comes from a firehose, and there is often more to the story than just the brief sample most people have the time for.

What helps us to separate truth from semi-truth is focus and experience.  At Protection Point Advisors, we are in the due diligence business.  It’s our job to provide you with sound information and oversight so that you can make informed decisions and bypass the noise.  We believe that preserving wealth is the key to financial success.  That might not be entertaining, but when it comes to your money maybe entertainment is over rated.
